All Our Ships

The freezer car is cold and the sun is on my back
The Shortline stops in Baltimore and I jump down off the track,
Walk through the darkness, lay down in the grass
And watch all the moments pass

I’m there dreaming, all this raining, all our ships are gone
Women singing, bells all ringing, white snow on the ground

Riding, traveling, halfway round the world
Walking down red cobblestone thinking ‘bout a girl
I’m a beggar, I’m a leader, I’m a singer, I’m a thief
I’m what every man wants to be

I’m there dreaming, all this raining, all our ships are gone
The sun is shining, birds all flying, ten feet off the ground

Nowadays that train don’t come round much anymore,
That lonesome whistle call and men waving from the door
But I don’t need much these days to soar through the skies
Just one look in her eyes

I’m there dreaming, all this raining, all our ships are gone
You’re there feeling, I’m believing, this might bring me round
I’m there dreaming, all this raining, all our ships are gone
