With the slightest echoes of Bob Dylan, the lads in Ten Mile Tide have produced their third album, this one eponymous, and brought to the music scene an accomplished and eminently listenable collection of foot-stomping folk music.

Lead singers Jason and Justin Munning match their twin talents (pun intended, since they are indeed twins) with instrumentations and musical arrangements that could belong to much more seasoned bands.

The most impressive instrumental contributions to the record are the fiddle of Steve Kessler and Steve Burke on the Hammond B3.

Where Ten Mile Tide truly break through the levee of boring folk is their lyrics. With frankly autobiographical tales, musicians run a great risk of alienating listeners because most musicians' lives aren't exactly scintillating.

These guys, however, appear to live for the moment -- and those moments are invariably fun -- so their tales of youthful madness and swing-from-the-chandeliers road adventures are ultimately captivating and observed with an authority that belies their youth.

All you folk folk out there -- and even you alt-rockers -- might want to catch Ten Mile Tide while it's still high, although I suspect this band is going to have very few lows.
